How to Cook Rib-Eye Steak on Char-Broil Grill 🄩

Ingredients & Materials

  • 500 g of rib eye (2 slices of 250 g)

  • Olive Oil

  • Kosher Salt

  • Cracked Black Pepper

  • Food Thermometer

Steps

  1. Thaw Your Steaks - Remove the steaks from the fridge for ~20 minutes.

  2. Grill - Pre-heat your grill until it reaches to medium-high heat (~375 C).

  3. Season Your Steaks - Brush a layer of olive oil on both sides of the steak. Then generously sprinkle Kosher salt & cracked black pepper on both side of the steak.

  4. Check Grill Temperature - Once your grill gets close to ~375 C, then it’s time to cook your steaks.

  5. Sear the First Side - Place your steaks on the grill for 3 minutes.

  6. Flip & Sear the Other Side - Flip your steak & then grill the other side for 3 minutes.

  7. Let the Steaks Sit - Remember that the steaks will continue cooking internally, so turn off the grill and let the steaks sit for another 3 minutes. If your grill has a floating rack, let the steaks sit there away from the warm grill.

  8. Check Steak Temperature - Using a food thermometer, check the steak’s internal temperature to make sure it meets your desired ā€œdone-nessā€:

    • 105°F (41°C) for rare;

    • 115°F (46°C) for medium-rare;

    • 125°F (52°C) for medium; or,

    • 135°F (57°C) for medium-well

  9. Serve - Place the steaks on your plate(s). Bon appƩtit!

Notes for Next Time

  • The 3-3-3 cooking time resulted in a medium steak for us. Of course, timing & doneness will vary from grill to grill. So just refer to this as a baseline.
