Umami Ramen: Our Stuttgart-Mitte Comfort Food

Stuttgart has plenty of ramen, but most of it is either too salty or too thin. Umami is the consistent middle ground.

What We Ordered

We started with the pork. We switched to the chicken. We haven't gone back.

Chicken Tantanmen

This isn't a heavy pork-grease broth. It’s creamy chicken with a sesame finish and a slow-burn heat. The crispy chicken is the reason to order this; even in the broth, it keeps its texture. If you can handle a moderate kick of spice, this is the best bowl on the menu.

Chicken Miso

The no-heat version. You get the same crispy chicken but in a savory, mild broth. It’s the safe bet for a rainy Tuesday.

Edamame

Warm and salty. It usually hits the table in under 3 minutes.

Our Opinion

You come here when you want a great bowl of noodles, not a long catch-up with friends.

The Win: Reliability

The broth tastes the same every time we visit. In a city where restaurant quality fluctuates, Umami is a consistent.

The Catch: The Space

You’re sitting on stools, shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers. It’s an eat-and-move vibe.

Two Foodies Tips

Getting there: Use the Rathaus or Stadtmitte U-Bahn stops. It’s a 5-minute walk from either.

English speaking: Yes. The staff is young and the menu is clear. Zero language barrier.
