Our Lake Bled Wedding Vendors: Who We Chose and Why

When we decided to get married in Lake Bled, we had just six months to put together our wedding team in 2026.

And with an August wedding date, we knew we weren't the only couple looking for talented photographers, videographers, florists, and DJs in one of Europe's most beautiful wedding destinations.

Luckily, our wedding planner, Petra Čuk from Da Petra Weddings, had what we called her golden list of trusted partners.

We loved having those recommendations, but Duygu and I also wanted to do our own research. After all, every couple has their own style, and we wanted to find people whose work genuinely connected with us.

Here's how we chose our wedding team, and what we learned along the way.

Ana Gregorič: Our Wedding Photographer

For us, photography was probably the most important part of our wedding.

Long after the wedding day, these are the photos we'll be looking back on for the rest of our lives. So finding the right photographer was one of our first priorities.

Ana Gregorič was on Petra's recommended list. Her work had been featured in publications like Elle and Cosmopolitan, and after browsing her website and Instagram, we immediately loved her photography style.

Of course, we still looked through many other photographers.

But somehow, we kept coming back to Ana.

That was a pretty good sign.

On our wedding day, Ana was joined by her partner, Luka, as our second photographer. Together, they were such an easy and fun team to work with.

Neither Duygu nor I are professional models, but they made being in front of the camera feel surprisingly natural.

And with our wedding taking place across several locations around Lake Bled, having both photographers there to capture different moments and perspectives was something we really appreciated.

Matic Grmek (Skylight Weddings): Our Wedding Videographer

Choosing our videographer was another big decision, and probably one of the more interesting stories from our wedding planning.

Before our first trip to Lake Bled, Duygu and I watched a LOT of wedding videos.

Initially, we were watching them to understand the venues. Where do couples usually hold their ceremonies? Where do they have dinner? What about the after-party?

But somewhere along the way, we started paying attention to the filmmakers themselves.

We didn't just want someone to document our wedding. We wanted a film that would captivate us every time we watched it.

So we started doing what I like to call our blind film study.

We'd watch playlists of wedding films without looking at the creator's name beforehand. That way, we could focus entirely on the storytelling, cinematography, and how the films made us feel.

After hours of watching, there was one filmmaker whose work kept standing out.

Skylight Weddings.

Fast-forward to our first visit to Lake Bled in February.

While exploring Bled Castle, we stumbled upon a wedding film showcase inside the castle's printing works.

Naturally, we stopped to watch.

For nearly 30 minutes, we stood there watching the different wedding films on repeat, without paying attention to who had made them.

And once again, there was one film we kept coming back to.

You guessed it. Skylight Weddings.

We couldn't believe it!

Twice, completely independently, we'd been drawn to the same filmmaker.

That was all the convincing we needed.

We told Petra about our little film-study experiment and asked her to check whether Matic Grmek from Skylight Weddings was available on August 19.

When he confirmed, we couldn't have been happier.

On our wedding day, Matic and his assistant followed us through everything, from getting ready in the morning to the ceremony, Pletna boat ride, dinner, and celebrations.

Looking back, I'm glad we spent all those hours watching wedding films. It helped us discover what we actually liked rather than simply choosing someone because they were popular.

Tomaž (Cvetličarna Spaans): Our Florist

We first met Tomaž from Cvetličarna Spaans during our February planning trip.

Petra introduced us, and his team welcomed Duygu into their flower shop, letting her explore the different flowers and colours she had in mind for our wedding.

It was a simple meeting, but one little gesture really stood out.

After our initial visit, they prepared a mini bouquet for Duygu based on the flowers she liked.

We thought that was such a thoughtful touch.

Over the following months, our floral plans evolved quite a bit.

What started as an idea for a ceremony arch eventually became four floral stands. We also added custom chair ribbons, small bouquets behind the chairs, and floral decorations for our Pletna boat.

During our June visit, we met with Tomaž again to finalize the flowers, dinner table decorations, and other details.

And on our wedding day, seeing everything come together at Vila Bled was wonderful.

Even our decorated Pletna boat was waiting for us after the ceremony.

One thing we appreciated was how the floral arrangements carried through different parts of our wedding, even though we weren't celebrating in just one venue.

Lexy Dee (Music and Entertainment): Our DJ & Emcee

Finding our DJ came a little later in the planning process.

Before choosing someone, we needed to figure out how our wedding reception would actually work.

We had dinner planned at Julijana Terrace, our first dance and cake cutting on the Panorama Terrace, and an after-party inside the Panorama Hall at Grand Hotel Toplice.

That meant music wasn't just about the after-party. We wanted the atmosphere to flow naturally throughout the evening.

Petra shared several DJ options, and Duygu and I spent time looking through their social media profiles and event videos.

There was one DJ whose energy kept catching our attention.

DJ Lexy Dee.

We liked the atmosphere he created at his events, and we could picture that same energy at our wedding.

On August 19, Lexy Dee helped carry the celebration from dinner through our dances and into the after-party, with DJ Aliash assisting as part of his team.

By the time everyone was dancing inside the Panorama Hall, it was exactly the kind of celebration we'd imagined.

Katerina: Our Hair and Makeup

For Duygu, choosing the right hair and makeup artist was another important decision.

She discovered Katerina through Instagram and really liked her work.

We also needed someone who could help with hair and makeup for some of our VIP guests on the wedding morning.

During our June trip, Duygu made time for a hair and makeup trial with Katerina in Ljubljana.

I'm really glad she did.

It gave her the opportunity to see the look in person, decide what she liked, what she wanted adjusted, and which finishing touches she preferred to do herself.

On our wedding morning, Katerina and Anastasia joined us in our suite to get everyone ready.

And when I finally saw Duygu in her wedding look, I knew that June trip had absolutely been worth it.

She looked stunning!

Seeing Our Wedding Team Come Together

One of the things we wondered about while planning from Stuttgart was how everyone would work together on the actual wedding day.

After all, we'd chosen different people for different reasons, and our wedding wasn't exactly happening in one location.

But on August 19, everything came together.

Our morning started with hair and makeup in our wedding suite. Before noon, Ana, Luka, Matic, and his assistant had joined us to begin capturing the day.

When we arrived at Vila Bled, Tomaž and his team had the ceremony flowers and decorations beautifully arranged.

After the ceremony, our decorated Pletna boats were ready to take us across Lake Bled.

And when we arrived at Grand Hotel Toplice, the music and energy of DJ Lexy Dee helped set the tone for the rest of the evening.

Meanwhile, our photographers and videographers continued capturing everything, from the speeches during dinner to the celebrations at the after-party.

It was pretty amazing seeing all these people we'd researched, met, and booked over six months finally working together.

What We Learned About Choosing Wedding Vendors in Lake Bled

Looking back, one of the best things we did was take the time to understand what we actually wanted before booking anyone.

For photography, we wanted images we'd love looking at decades from now.

For videography, we wanted storytelling that made us feel something.

For flowers, we wanted someone who understood Duygu's vision and could bring it to life.

For music, we wanted energy that matched the celebration we'd imagined.

And for hair and makeup, having the opportunity to do an in-person trial made a real difference.

Having Petra's local network gave us a great starting point, but doing our own research helped us feel confident that we were choosing people whose work genuinely matched our personalities and preferences.

If you're planning your own Lake Bled wedding, my biggest takeaway would be not to choose vendors based on beautiful portfolios alone.

Take the time to understand their style, how they work, and whether you can picture them being part of your wedding day.

For us, that combination of personal research, local recommendations, and meeting people whenever we could made all the difference.

Six months after starting our search, we weren't just looking at a collection of vendors we'd hired.

We were watching our wedding team bring the day we'd imagined to life.
